Four New Acrylic Paintings

Here are four new acrylic paintings I have been working on.  It was fun to try these new ideas and just practice the blending techniques and brushstrokes.  It’s all so new to me, but now I just want to try all types of pictures.  I can’t wait.  Hope you like these.

Final Pastel Beach Picture and Two More

Hi everyone.  Here is the final pic of the pastel beach picture.  I like it although I do want to try this same picture in crisp watercolors to see what effect  I get. I have watercolor paper all sketched out and ready to go.  I will try it soon.

I also attached a first attempt at watercolors in a floral theme and a pastel pic of a cute snowman in pastels looking up with hope at a Christmas star. How’s that for diversity????  Hope you like them all. Enjoy!

Pastel Beach Picture in Progress

I am in the  process of finishing a pastel picture of a girl on the beach. This is a little difficult,  as I am at a stand still right now trying to figure out what color I should render the sky in.  The ocean is so blue already, I am wondering if I should do a pink sky.  I don’t know.

I just can’t wait too finish this and start on other projects!  I will let you know when I finish.

Down By The Sea Pastel Drawing

Here is a first attempt at drawing a nautical themed picture in pastels.  I wanted really to do a beach scene, but I had put this still life together and figured I would try this first…then the beach.

I like it, but it looked like it could use text, so I put the text in “Down By The Sea”.  It seems to add something.  I would like to go to Photoshop now and take the starfish here and reduce the size and add mini ones in the corners of the frame.  That would even add more interest.  But anyway, here is my first attempt. 🙂

The Beauty Of The Hours (Reblog)

This is a quote I illustrated awhile back which I really love.  It’s how I really feel about living and enjoying every minute of every day.  Time goes by so quickly.  My kids are now 17, 19 and 20 years of age.  I was a stay- at- home mom, and I loved it.  I wouldn’t  have changed any of it.

The Beauty Of The Hours

Today, as I was folding clothes on my bed, I put on an old CD I used to play for the kids when they were small and read their books.  It was music from the Beatrix Potter animated series that was on PBS (see below).  I love this CD as it helps me focus and think like a child when I have to be creative, drawing, etc.  When I started listening, I almost wanted to cry.  I could picture the three of them sitting on the couch, curled up reading their books.  Their stuffed animals cuddled under their arms while having a snack.  I remember this as clearly as it happened yesterday.  Times were so laid back then.  No homework, studying for SAT’s, driver’s ed and dating problems.  It was excitement, playfulness and innocence.  Hugs and kisses.  I’d take it all back in a second.

Anyway, before I get too emotional, this is what made me want to illustrate this quote.  This is what I picture when I read the words.  It makes me feel serene looking at the girl on the beach, just enjoying something as simple as listening to a seashell.  Can’t you hear it?  Enjoy!

Just Found This Photo

Awwww, just had to share this one.  I came across this and I had to post it.  It is an old picture, probably 1996 or so, of my daughter Caitlin and son, Patrick, just having a good childhood moment.  This was taken at the local beach after having some clamcakes and chowder, and just strolling along.

I love how Patrick’s legs are every which way and Cait is just so intent.  Wow, those days seem like so long ago. How I wish we could all enjoy a day like this again.

Take me back.  I want to just jump into this photo and hug them.:) 😦
