Amish Country News October Issue

Hello!  I just wanted to let you know,  The Amish Experience is using my “Amish Woman With A Pie” painting for their October Issue of Amish Country News! Amish News is a monthly visitors guide for Amish Country, Lancaster, Pa and surrounding areas. I am so thankful and grateful to them.  There is an article on myself and my work (page 15) and several paintings throughout. I can’t thank them enough! Here is the link to the issue:

I Am In The Amish Country News!

The Amish Experience had asked me if they could use one of my paintings for their October issue of Amish Country News.  Of course I said yes! They used the painting “Barbie With A Pie” for this issue.

Well, the October issue of Amish Country News is published! I think it turned out awesome! The half-page describing my art background and how I began painting Amish themed works is on page 27. They did an amazing job with this and I can’t thank them enough! Pebbles and Lace, the shop in Strasburg, Pa mentioned to me that a woman came in the shop and bought prints because of this issue. Very happy and extremely grateful.

P.S. My painting of the little amish girl with the pumpkin will hopefully be posted here tomorrow. I am sorry it has taken so long, as we are in the middle of painting a room here and things are not in their normal places right now…ahem…like the cord for downloading pictures form my camera to the computer!!!! I was going to do that tonight and I could not locate it. The painting came out awesome though!

Another Trip To Amish Country, Lancaster Pa!

My husband, John and I went to Lancaster, Pennsylvania this past week, mostly to see what PA is like in the fall (which we never have done), but mostly to thank the ones responsible for putting my painting of a little Amish boy (Benuel) eating a chicken pie, on “Amish Country News” and to pick up some issues to bring home. It was so nice to see the issues at so many places we visited, to see an issue on someone’s table at a restaurant, and to see it at the largest Amish farm shops. (I took a couple of pics at some stores).
When we went to the place where they produced the issue, and told the ladies there behind the desk why I was there and who I was and pointed to the magazine, they acted all excited. They said it was the cutest picture they ever saw and how they get so many compliments on it ! I was so happy! I felt like a celebrity!
Anyway, it was a great trip, beautiful colors and landscape and awesome time. Needless to say, I now have “many” copies of Amish Country News at my house. One for everybody! 🙂

I Made It On Amish Country News!

I have been waiting to put this post up, but I am so excited as today a pastel picture I painted is on the cover of “Amish Country News”, a monthly visitors guide publication for Lancaster, Pa . (They have 450,000 copies printed annually, and seven issues are distributed to over 300 locations, by subscription and in person, in Lancaster and surrounding counties.)
I approached the publication in June and asked if they took artwork, mentioning I do amish paintings. The publisher said they have artwork once a year for their cover, but it is for an advertisement for a local Chicken Pie business and if I wanted to submit something he would consider it and gave a deadline for the 4th of September. As soon as I sent it, the publisher brought it over to Zook’s Chicken Pies to show the owner, and they thought it was great! So today was the day it came out and it is out there until November 6th.
The funny part of all this is that I found a picture of my small nephew(Evan) eating a yummy piece of pizza at a party. I just loved his expression so much, I used his face for this painting. I added a straw hat, a chicken pie, fall colors for the background, etc….and this is how it came out. An Amish Evan! Maybe he will sell more chicken pies!
They also put another pic of mine in the issue at the bottom of the Zook’s PPie article and a half-page bio/profile for me and contact info. I’m still shaking! The publication can be seen here:
