Hello, and it’s been awhile I know. I am sorry. But I am really trying to get back into painting and I do have more on the drawing board , in sketch form at the moment, that I will share in a few days, and I can’t wait to complete them.
Anyway, I just finished this one, and although it’s not an Amish painting, it is a primitive colonial type painting. I got the idea for this painting from the movie “Girl with a Pearl Earring” with Scarlett Johansson. Very good movie! There was an image of her in her bonnet looking out the window with a jug and it was very plain and dull. I changed that picture by changing her face a bit, added the bright flowers (as if in a window box) and vines above her head (as if there were more flowers above her in another window) to give it more interest. With the water jug, it looks like she was just watering her flowers. Plus, I still love the whole “looking out the window” piece. I really enjoyed painting this.
I hope you enjoy this and I will be putting it up in my shop soon. I will put up the new sketches in a few days. Thanks for your interest and…I’m baaaaccckkk!

Maiden In The Window
A nice job on the portrait!
Thank you so much!
You’re welcome.
As always Cheryl, this is just beautiful. You capture so much in your paintings. They glow!

Wow! That meant so much to me! Thank you so much, Claudine!
I love how she looks so solemn, but she looks like she loves her pretty flowers. I love flowers & colors & you should see my garden. I love how her face is so rosy red. It does remind me of the Girl With The Pearl Earring. You did a really great job!
Thank you, Gail!
