Pastel Picture of Angel With Baby Deer

Just completed this pastel picture.  I was ready to throw this one away several times!  I tried this one on the smooth side of Canson pastel paper, instead of the textured side, thinking it would be smoother. It is, but I did not like the way the pastel blended on this side.  It was like drawing chalk on a blackboard, and I get chills just mentioning that!  I erased the hair several times and the dress on the angel wasn’t what I expected as well   All in all, when I finished , I was not really happy, until I showed my kids…who LOVED it.  I guess it was that I knew all the problems I had with it that didn’t make me happy.

But I guess I am happy with it now.

Here she is…Angel With Baby Deer.

Christmas In New York Watercolor

Here is a picture I did for another school concert that was about Christmas in New York.  It was done all in black watercolor wash, to give it the lighter greys and soft accents.  I like the way it turned out, because I am so used to doing cutesy characters, that I never even consider drawing structural things, so this was quite a challenge for me.  The tree at Rockefeller Center came out pretty decent too, I think. All in all, it came out pretty well and this is the first time I have ever showed it since I rendered it many years ago. Enjoy!
